Infleurno reimagines the ancient myth of Persephone as a tale of abundance and rebirth: the aromas of zesty passionfruit, creamy white blossoms, and smoky incense entwine and remind us that spring always returns and freedom is always within our grasp.
Throughout history, the natural cycle of the seasons has inspired myths and legends; ancient Greeks, for example, interpreted the shift from warm, sunny weather and autumn harvests to barren winter landscapes through the story of Persephone. In this tale, Hades, the lord of the underworld, abducted Persephone and held her prisoner. Her mother, the goddess of the harvest, grieved so deeply that the world’s flowers and foliage wilted away. When the king of the gods intervened and ordered Hades to release Persephone, the terrestrial world came back to life. However, since Persephone had tasted the fruit of the underworld in the form of a few pomegranate seeds, she was still bound to return to Hades for a portion of every year, making the cycle repeat itself.
In Infleurno, Eau de Boujee reimagines this story of separation and captivity as one of joyous abundance, choosing to focus on Persephone’s release. Infleurno swaps the original pomegranate with a tangy aroma of passionfruit pulp and evokes a contrast between nature’s rebirth and darker forces through freshly blooming white magnolia and jasmine and a charred incense accord. This retelling of the Persephone myth reminds us that smoke and shadows are so often balanced by clarity and light, and that spring always returns and freedom is always within our grasp.
